YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU!
VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS ARE NEEDED
PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING US!
Volunteer firefighting is one of the most rewarding experiences you could ever have. The fire department needs volunteers with all types of skills and abilities.
There are many benefits to volunteering: personal satisfaction and pride in helping others, making a difference in your community, training and educational opportunities, free uniforms, protective equipment, gear, and more!
To be a firefighter you must be able to meet a few certain state and department requirements:
Any fire member would be glad to answer your questions and give you a tour of our fire station. Just give them a call at (419) 849-3232 or visit their Facebook page and send them a message.
Open burning is not allowed in Ohio; however, the Ohio EPA will allow agricultural waste to be burned as long as the fire is cleared by them and is at least 1000 feet away from any inhabited structure.
Your contact for the EPA is Melissa Boyers. She can be reached at 419-373-3115 or 800-686-6930 extension 3115, or email her at melissa.boyers@epa.ohio.gov. If you have any questions related to open burning and whether you can do it or not, please contact Melissa and she will answer any questions you might have.
The fire department cannot authorize any open burning, and if called to an open burn are required to put it out, unless you have EPA approval for the burn.

There are currently three tornado warning sirens in Woodville Township thanks to funding from the Sandusky County EMA, Village of Woodville, and Woodville Township. The sirens are located at Westwood Cemetery on SR 582, the Village Administration building on Lime Road, and the Village’s sewage treatment plant on Port Clinton Road.
If a Tornado Warning has been issued, there will be a 3-minute steady tone. This means take cover and tune to the local news media for further information and updates. The Township does not issue an all clear tone. Sirens are sounded when credible reports from spotters are received and/or the National Weather Service issues a warning.
The sirens are tested every month at noon on the 1st Saturday to make sure they are in working order. There will be a 3-minute steady tone. If severe weather is in the area, the siren test will be cancelled.
